Lori Petersen MS LMFT (Psychotherapist)

Lori opened Love the Journey because she loves helping people exactly where they are in life's journey. Lori earned her bachelor's degree from The College of St. Scholastica, in business management and organizational behavior. Several years later, Lori continued her education and earned her Master of Science in Human Development with a specialization in marriage and family therapy. Lori is currently working towards attaining her PsyD in Clinical Psychology and has successfully completed cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intensive training. 

Lori enjoys seeing a range of people and families. Lori worked with mostly teens for several years, but now she works with people as young as 3. Lori also works with the elderly and everywhere between. She helps with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and PTSD, along with several others.

 

Krista McFarland MSW LGSW (Psychotherapist)

Krista has been at Love the Journey since June 2016. She is currently working part time and only telehealth.

Krista earned both her Bachelors and Master in Social Work at Saint Cloud State. Krista has been working in the social services and therapeutic field in direct service since 1998.  Krista has worked in various components and has a competent understanding and experience of varied system roles and is able to connect clients with resources.  Krista has vast experience, education, and previous work in domestic abuse, sexual abuse/assault, adolescent issues, chemical health, eating disorders, family systems, and poverty components, and self-sufficiency and educational challenges.  Krista enjoys working with individuals and families along the journey of life. Krista has had a myriad of trainings and incorporates many concepts into the therapeutic experience to meet each individual client’s needs. 

Krista has specific interest in assisting adolescents and adults who are navigating issues with domestic violence/sexual assault, PTSD, anxiety, depression, ODD, and arrays of other issues that may prevent individuals from experiencing the full capacities of their lives.  Krista recognizes the challenges that individuals may face when entering therapy and strives to provide individuals with a client-centered approach to meet their goals and needs in the therapeutic realm.

 

Benjamin Coleman MA (Psychotherapist)

Ben began working at Love the Journey in August 2019.  Ben earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Concordia University, St. Paul and later received his Master's in Counseling degree from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University, Irvine.  Ben has worked in the field of mental health for 7 years.

Ben has a strong Christian foundation from years of working in the ministry.  Ben has a passion for working with youth and families.  Ben also works with individuals seeking mental health counseling.  Ben works with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, as well as works with couples who are seeking marriage counseling, premarital counseling, co-parenting skills, and other forms of family counseling.  

 

Katie Burggraff MA LPCC (Psychotherapist)

Katie started at Love the Journey in June of 2021. Katie received her Master of Art’s Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2015. Katie obtained her Licensed Professional Counselor license in 2016 and became fully licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in 2019. She has been working in the mental health field for 7 years.

Katie works with individuals of all ages and genders and diagnoses including: Anxiety, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, trauma, grief/loss, personality disorders, cooccurring disorders, and family conflicts. Katie is trained in the Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC:0-5) and is able to assess children and provide recommendations for early childhood interventions. Katie is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

 

 Joshua Larsen MSW LGSW (Psychotherapist)

Josh has been working with Love the Journey since March 2021. Josh graduated from Walden University in August of 2020 with his Master’s in social work with an emphasis on families and children.

Josh has a bachelor’s in biblical studies and camping ministries. Josh has spent most of his life working with youth and kids in a camp setting to a residential facility. With a passion for those who have been through trauma Josh is looking forward to helping you develop skills you need to deal with what you are experiencing.

Josh  has a passion for adoption and helping families on their journey with adoption. Josh has a strong Christian foundation due to his upbringing and years of working in ministry. Josh has a passion for working with youth and families.

 

Becky Sauter MA, LADC (Psychotherapist)

Becky joined the team at Love the Journey in April of 2021. She is a master’s level therapist who is also a licensed alcohol and drug counselor. Becky is working on completing the requirements to be a fully licensed mental health professional. Becky earned her bachelor’s degree in Community Psychology at St. Cloud State University, along with pre-medicine program at St. Scholastica. Becky earned her master’s degree at Hazelden Graduate school.  

Becky has been working in the counseling field since entering graduate school in 2011. Becky has completed trainings for Global Career Development Facilitator, Trauma trainings, Wellbriety certification, among others. She is passionate about working with people who have experienced, trauma, abuse, PTSD, abandonment and neglect, substance use disorders, and grief.

Becky enjoys working with people of all ages with a preference on adolescents, couples, and families. Becky believes in “bringing her clients up,” meaning, even in the first session, identifying something to bring up your level of happiness is the beginning of your journey in therapy.

 Becky has a passion in counseling, she also has experiences which include creating a half-way house vocational program, working at a para-military prison, working with families and children in homes and at school, as well as residential and outpatient treatment centers.

 

Kathleen Glassmann (Intern)

Kathy is working on her internship; she is currently attending her master's degree in social work through Capella University. Kathy has several years of experience working with children and family. Kathy has worked as an ARHMS and CTSS provider for nearly three years, and is excited to be at Love the Journey helping many more families and individuals reach their personal goals.
